yo, hipstamatic fans!

For a variety of reasons, many Hipstamatic users have missed out on some of the limited edition HipstaPaks that have been released over the past year.

For one weekend only, June 10-12, 2011, Hipstamatic are re-releasing some of the discontinued gear in the very limited edition Hipstamatic Retropak One.

This weekend only, users will be able to download several currently unavailable Hipstamatic lenses and film, including the warm Tejas lens from the SXSW Hipstapak, the very popular Melodie lens released in December, and both the film and lens in the Dali HipstaPak.

If you’re missing any of these, this download is definitely worth it for the Tejas and Melodie lenses alone. According to the developers of Hipstamatic, this will be your last opportunity to get this sought-after gear.

UPDATED: Retropak One will be available for $1.99 as an in-app purchase in Hipstamatic.

ordering this print, can’t wait to get it.  kind of amazing that something this beautiful is a charred piece of wood.  and the rest of the series just as beautiful, check it out here.

I’ve always been fascinated by fire: I find I can reach my greatest inner peace when sitting near a campfire. But it’s the morning after a night outdoors, when I return to the charred remains of what had previously been a bright and welcoming light, that I’m most curious about. To me, the pieces lying there, burnt and alone and dead on the ground, hold stories — each piece with its own unique and tiny narrative. I decided to start gathering those remains to see if by documenting them I could find a way to convey that same impression to a viewer. I’m calling the result Burnt, and I guess you could say Burnt Piece - 01 is kind of the linchpin to the series — my favorite piece from the study.

(thanks to Erin at designformankind.com for introducing me to troy’s work!)

I could stare at people’s polaroid galleries for hours…and I do.  so you can imagine how many MORE hours I spend perusing when the curators are alison mosshart + jamie hince of the kills.  check it:

The Kills have a passion for art in general and specifically Polaroid. Kicking off the Blood Pressures tour at SXSW, Allison and Jamie will be documenting their tour and uploading it here. So check back for new galleries on a regular basis. In the mean time they’ve shared some amazing photos from the past.

even more reason to love them. PS if you haven’t checked out their new album, blood pressures, get on it.  seriously the best work I’ve heard from them to date.  amazing.

had to close with that jack white shot, duh….

the impossible project makes the impossible possible…again

our friends at the impossible project have just released color instant film…it’s still experimental (see also: temperamental) but still…so excited.  get your land cameras out!

“When Impossible started development of a new color instant film material in the former Polaroid factory in Enschede (NL), even the most optimistic integral film experts doubted that the re-invention of the highly complex instant color system was possible. But supported by the outstanding team from Inoviscoat, Germany, the Impossible wizards made the Impossible possible and invented a complete new color system in just one year. As an impossible result we are now proud to present our first meteoric product in our new and rapidly expanding Impossible Color Shade universe: PX 70 COLOR SHADE FF.”

and speaking of summer…

while perusing arrow + arrow tonight, I discovered serena mitnik-miller’s dreamy, ethereal prints and photographs.  seriously makes me want to go to the beach with some watercolors and a lomo camera pronto.

*serena is featured in Artkip No. 0054

just in time for the 4th of july…

I stumbled upon this gem of an engagement shoot today - the use of fireworks is amazing.

rare photo of kurt cobain, his kitten, and baby bean.
I think I love this photo so much because of the obvious:  it is a rare glance at the real kurt…or at least what we want to believe is the real kurt.  a normal, happy guy caught in an everyday “happy family” moment.  not the agonized, tortured guy battling so many demons.
